Steph Clare Smith cries over landing huge Seafolly modelling gig – after going public with her past eating disorder battles

Steph Claire Smith was overwhelmed with emotion when she discovered she had landed the coveted modeling job in Seafolly Australia Back to Paradise.

The model, 29, said the swimwear brand’s ‘high summer campaigns’ were her favorite growing up and she always wanted to pose in them.

But when she finally got the call from her agent, the podcaster was moved to tears over her past body image issues, she told her Instagram followers on Tuesday.

“The moment my agent Matt called me to say the global campaign for Seafolly Australia had been confirmed, I immediately started crying,” she wrote.

“I was happy, of course, but I wish it was back when I was a full-time model.”

She continued, “However, I was quickly reminded of how I approach these types of major campaigns. How I felt like I had to ‘prepare’ for the shoot.

“I would limit myself to foods that I loved for weeks or months.” I overdid it with exercises to the point that it felt like a punishment or a chore.

“And in the day when I would be so hard on myself and only focus on insecurities, I have come so far in letting go of this idea of perfection.”

Steph went on to say in her lengthy Instagram caption, which she shared alongside stunning photos from the shoot, that she now respects her body “for its function.”

Her appearance has become secondary to her current “healthy routine,” which is a far cry from the struggles she once had with eating disorders.

The genetically blessed beauty was happy to reveal she didn’t change anything about her diet or exercise routine in the lead up to her lucrative modeling gig.

‘I really want to show these photos to 20-year-old Steph and say, ‘We’re here! We have the campaign! But we also got to a state where we were happy with our skin.”

Despite being one of the most in-demand models in Australia, Steph first opened up about her Bing Eating Disorder on her Keep It Cleaner YouTube channel in 2017.

When she lived in America for ten months at the age of 20, her modeling agency measured her body twice a week and constantly demanded that she lose weight or she would not get gigs.
