Ned wasn’t due to arrive for a few weeks, but Sidebottom joked he could be born “any minute” when he and Alisha attended the Australian Open on January 19.

“She’s due on February 6, but I think she’ll go earlier because the baby is big so it could happen at any time,” the 33-year-old said.

Alisha also had a health tragedy shortly before the birth.

“Last Friday she was leaving work and she rolled her ankle a little bit and fell over and landed on her knee and broke her patella (kneecap),” Sidebottom revealed.

“Then at 3am she tried to go to the toilet and fell again, but she’s doing well, we’re excited.”

Ned’s birth comes after Sidebottom became a hero for the Collingwood faithful thanks to his star performance in the grand final AFL win over Brisbane.

He and Alisha tied the knot in late 2022 in a stunning ceremony in Daylesford, northwest of Melbourne.
