Statsguru: Railway expenditure for FY25 has been pegged at Rs 2.6 trillion
The government allocated more money to Indian Railways in the last budget than in the five years prior to the pandemic combined. The railway expenditure for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25) has been pegged at Rs 2.6 trillion. Total expenditure between FY15 and 19 was Rs 2.2 trillion (Graph 1).
Freight revenues are expected to grow 6.5 percent in FY25. This is faster than the 2.5 percent expected in the revised estimates
