Statistics have shown that Chelsea lead the list of missed big chances as their difficult season continued on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were beaten 2-1 by Wolves at Molineux – their eighth defeat in eighteen Premier League matches.

The Blues were made to pay for missing golden chances before the hosts punished them by scoring twice to claim victory in the Midlands.

It's been a common theme for Chelsea this season and it's unsurprising that they're leading the way in missed big chances in the Premier League this season.

According to Opta, the West London team has created 57 big chances this season and missed 36 of them.

The most notable miss of the defeat to Wolves came from Raheem Sterling, whose effort was saved by Jose Sa after he opted to shoot despite having the chance to put it right to the unmarked Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson.

Pochettino regretted the missed opportunities after the match. He said: “We talk a lot from the beginning about the fact that this group of players is very young.

'They are young in age and it is their first time in the Premier League. They have to feel the adjustment and of course it is about trust.

'It's also about quality. It's about many things.

'We have to score if we want to win the games and now it is difficult because we are very disappointed after the match.
