- Cameron Munster aimed a jibe at Ashley Klein
- Referee was criticized by fans on social media
- State of Origin goes to a decider in Brisbane
Cameron Munster lamented Queensland’s slow start to their MCG horror show against New South Wales but was keen to point out questionable refereeing on Wednesday night.
The Maroons have found themselves in an Origin crisis after being beaten 38-18 by their arch-rivals following an embarrassing performance in Melbourne that saw the Blues go into half-time with a 34-0 lead.
Billy Slater’s side were unable to stop the Blues attack early in the match, with NSW being awarded set restart after set restart, and they made the pressure count.
But football fans flooded social media with criticism of the refereeing from veteran official Ashley Klein, with the Maroons continually breaking the rules in the referee’s eyes.
And Munster made a pointed reference to Klein’s performance as part of the expert team after the match, with the magical five-eighth playing no part in the series due to injury.
“The 50/50 calls didn’t come to us tonight,” he said.
‘They played harder, tackled harder. That’s the simple game of football.

The Maroons are in crisis mode after being defeated by New South Wales in Melbourne
‘They were dominant tonight, the Blues unfortunately. We played very good football at the back of the game.
‘It was too little, too late.
“Not ideal but I’m sure they’ll get the boys at Suncorp and Gus has nailed it on the head, first game, second game, it doesn’t really matter now.
‘I got The Decider in Brisbane and had a good record there.
‘Hopefully we can hold on to it.’
NSW have not won a decider in Brisbane since 2005 but they will head to Suncorp Stadium full of confidence after bullying the Maroons off the park.
Queensland’s Reece Walsh was barely noticed as the Blues raced to a 34-0 half-time lead, with Brian To’o and fellow winger Zac Lomax scoring two tries each.
The Maroons showed signs of fighting back in the second half, but they were unable to contain a dominant NSW side.
