State of Decay 3 gets a new cinematic trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase

State of disrepair 3 just got a brand new cinematic trailer during Xbox Games Showcase 2024.

It’s been almost four years since Undead Labs unveiled the next game in its lineup State of decomposition series, and while there’s still no news on a release date, the studio shared a new trailer today (June 9) featuring State of disrepair 3‘s cast of characters as they fight for survival against a terrifying horde of zombies.

Created in Unreal Engine 5, State of disrepair 3 is a four-player cooperative game and features narrative systems surrounding the four characters we see in the trailer.

“Years after a zombie apocalypse nearly wiped out humanity, State of disrepair 3 is the next evolution in the State of decomposition franchise,” the game description reads. “As the zombie threat continues to claim lives, you must fight back and regain lost ground, building a life for your community of surviving homesteaders.

‘That has always been important to us State of decomposition is a kind of survival experience for every human being,” says studio head and head of product Philip Holt (via Xbox wire).

“This is not a hero’s journey as some kind of literary structure. Instead, the world of State of decomposition is the story of environmental transformation, revealing the things that are already inherently valuable to our survivors. Things like resourcefulness, resilience, adaptability, collectivism – those are the qualities that lead to survival.”

Undead Labs was acquired by Microsoft in 2018 and according to creative director Kevin Patzelt, he doesn’t think the team could have achieved this State of disrepair 3‘s vision if the publisher were not there.

“I think if we had remained independent, we couldn’t possibly have had the time, the space and the support that we needed to be where we are today and to put out what we know we can create. a different pressure,” Patzelt said. “It’s not like that anymore. And I feel like as a team, at least in my career, I’ve never felt more supported to make what we know we want to make.”
