Stassi Schroeder reacts to the news that she’s actually distant cousins with Gypsy Rose Blanchard: ‘OMG I’m unwell’
Stassi Schroeder had a hilarious reaction when she learned she was actually distant cousins of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
The 35-year-old reality star and 32-year-old Blanchard – who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for killing her abusive mother Dee Dee Blanchard in 2016 and granted parole in 2023 – were discovered by DNA sleuths to be cousins. Dr. Adina Newman.
Both Schroeder and Blanchard are from Louisiana, and after her research she concluded that they were both cousins.
Newman said she spent the day researching Blanchard's family tree, where she made the discovery and tagged Schroeder on her Instagram post.
Schroeder responded by leaving the comment, “Omg I'm feeling unwell,” along with three crying emojis and three skull emojis.

Newman said in the post, “More specifically, I focused on her mother side. And let me tell you: Cajuns and Acadians are basically everywhere!'
“If you know anything about Cajuns and Acadians, they are endogamous, a small tribal population that has stayed within the family for generations,” she said.
“Soon I started seeing some of @stassischroeder's grandmother's surnames going back to Acadia,” she said.
“I'm still digging because Gypsy Rose and Stassi are distantly related in tons of different ways (Arseneauxs, Herbert's, and Dugases to name a few),” she said.
Newman added, “the closest I have found so far is through Antoine Bourg (c.1609-c.1687) and Antoinette Landry (c.1618-c.1693), ancestors of the Bourg line in Acadia . Stassi and Gypsy Rose are at least 11th cousins, Stassi is 10th cousins after being removed along with Dee Dee.”
The geneologist further clarified in another post that: 'in typical Acadian fashion, they are also related in other ways, including the Bourg lineage.'
She further revealed that Stassi's Vanderpump Rules co-star Katie Maloney are also both related to Gypsy Rose.
'In fact, Stassi and Katie are more closely related on this line, sharing ancestors Michel Bourg (c. 1666-c. 1721) and Elizabeth Melanson (c. 1673-c. 1724); they are ninth cousins once removed,” Newman said.
“That means Katie is also related to Gypsy Rose Blanchard! Gypsy is the 11th cousins ever removed with Katie and 11 cousins with Stassi (miscounted generations in the previous post, but the correction was made),” she said.
Stassi gave birth to her second child in September and joked in a recent post, “Three of us are in diapers,” as she referred to the first days after giving birth, when mothers wear adult diapers.

The star explained the meaning of her son's names, writing online: 'Messer Rhys Clark. 'Messer' is an old (as during the Renaissance) Italian form of address that would be the equivalent of something like 'signore', 'sir' or 'sir'.
