Singers Billie Eilish and Annie Lennox lead a stellar line-up for the Prince of Wales’ Earthshot Prize as William and Kate roll out the red carpet in the United States.
The couple will fly to Boston on Wednesday for the start of a three-day trip, culminating in Friday’s glitzy awards ceremony, described by an insider as the prince’s “Super Bowl moment.”
William, 40, is passionate about the awards he has created to recognize individuals and organizations developing practical solutions to the global environmental crisis. Five contestants will win £1 million each.

But Friday night’s gala awards ceremony is the focus of the visit, and William has harnessed the couple’s royal star power to bring in a host of celebs. Sir David Attenborough will address the opening of the show, while actress and Earthshot judge Cate Blanchett will give a look back at the 2021 winners. Actor Rami Malek will present an award.

A royal source said: ‘The award has become the Super Bowl moment of the year for the prince and he looks forward to continuing to use the platform each year to shine a light on some of the most impactful projects to come. doing great things around the world to save the future of our planet.’
Two of the 15 finalists are from the UK. London-based Notpla Hard Material makes packaging from seaweed and plants as an alternative to single-use plastics, while County Durham-based Low Carbon Materials uses non-recyclable plastic waste to make carbon-free concrete blocks.
The awards will be broadcast on the BBC in the UK on Sunday at 5.30pm.
