Starfield design director says players trust Bethesda after Fallout 76’s rough launch

Star field‘s design director has said that Bethesda has regained player confidence after the fix Fallout 76 after the rough launch.

Shortly after the release of Star field‘s early entry, Emil Pagliarulo took over Twitter to share his thoughts on the seven-year development of the sci-fi RPG, saying he thinks player confidence has increased after fixing Fallout 76 transferred to Star field and made the team “want to work harder and harder” (via GameRadar).

“Our goal from the very beginning was to create a brand new universe where our players (old and new!) can get lost,” said Pagliarulo. “To force ourselves to provide you with as much content and hopefully joy as we were humanly capable of. Did we succeed? Well, we certainly tried.’

Fallout 76 launched in 2018 in pretty rough shape and it was no secret that it wasn’t well received by reviewers or the Bethesda community at large. It took a few years for the game to reach an optimal playable state, as the studio continued to release content in the form of patches and paid DLC.

“When (Fallout) 76 launched rough, we asked for your patience,” Pagliarulo continued. “We had some lessons to learn. And you supported us the way we supported that game, making it the experience you wanted and deserved. That confidence clearly carried over to Starfield and made us want to work harder and harder.”

Star field launched in early access on September 1 for those who pre-ordered the Premium Edition or Constellation Edition and so far it’s been well received by the Steam Top Sellers list with the game at number one at the time of writing.

The game will be officially released on September 6 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. We rated the game 4 out of 5 stars in our review and said: “Star field is a technically solid, system-heavy role-playing game that works well with a surprising degree of polish compared to previous Bethesda RPGs. Despite this, Star field has no sense of character and the story lacks impact.”
