Star Wars: The AcolyteLucasfilm’s next live-action series will reportedly release in mid-2024.
According to Collider, the highly anticipated TV show will draw its lightsaber on Disney Plus sometime this summer (that’s winter for Australian readers). Collider has not stated how it became aware of the High Republic-era series’ release window, but it’s likely one of the outlet’s sources passed the information along to the editor.
If it is correct, Star Wars: The Acolyte will be the first live-action show from the sci-fi franchise to debut on one of the world’s top streaming services this year. The bad batch season 3, the final installment of the beloved animated series, leads the way Star Wars‘ streaming charge with the upcoming launch on February 21st. The acolytewill then seemingly be the next show to leave Lucasfilm’s production line and possibly take its place on our list of the best Disney Plus shows. As long as it meets our high expectations.
This isn’t the only potentially good news we’ve received recently The acolyte, or. According to prominent industry leaker Daniel RPK (as noted by Taverna Geek on X, and later Reddit), the show’s trailer is reportedly ready to be released publicly. It’s unclear if this teaser will be the same one that was shown exclusively to Star Wars Celebration 2023 attendees in May 2023, or if it will be an entirely new version for us to delve into. Fingers crossed The acolyteThe game’s first teaser will soon appear online, giving us our first glimpse of one of the most remarkable events in the legendary galaxy far, far away.
Support the Sith cause
The acolyte is a show shrouded in mystery, but we have some solid ideas about when it will take place, who is involved and what the plot will entail.
As we said before, this will be the first Star Wars project set during the High Republic era – the period 500 to 100 years before the events of the Skywalker Saga. Little was known about this era, but it is one that has recently been extensively explored in comic book form. The acolytewill certainly draw inspiration from the now extensive literature.
Per StarWars.com, it’s a mystery thriller that “takes viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and rising forces of the dark side in the final days of the High Republic era.” A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they face are more sinister than they ever expected”. So there isn’t much to tell about the story, but one of the star, Dafne Keen, told Ny Breaking exclusively The acolyte will show “how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi” and that “it is a Sith-led story that has never been done before.”
Joining Keen on the cast list are budding stars, favorite actors and even a few A-listers. Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies) was confirmed as The acolyte‘s first major star in December 2021, and it took another eleven months for Lucasfilm and Disney to confirm who would join Stenberg on the show’s roster.
However, the wait was worth it. Amid The acolyte‘s many talented actors include Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, Jessica Jones), Lee Jung-jae (Squid game), Jodie Turner Smith (The Witcher: Blood Origin), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones), and Manny Jacinto (Nine perfect strangers) among other things. Hey, we said it was a stacked cast.
Leslye Headland, the brainchild behind Netflix’s Super Russian doll TV program, performs show running duties. If you needed any indication that the self-proclaimed Star Wars superfan was the right person for the job, just know she pitched The acolyte as Frozen Meet Kill Bill. Yeah, you’re really on board now, aren’t you? That’s what we thought.
