Star Wars spin-off Ahsoka – starring Rosario Dawson – release date pushed up ONE DAY by Disney+

Star Wars dropped exciting news about the upcoming limited series Ahsoka on its Twitter account on Friday.

The popular epic space opera multimedia franchise announced in a tweet that Ahsoka’s premiere date would be pushed back a day on Disney+, the popular subscription streaming service, and that new episodes would be available in primetime.

“Thank you to all the fans who celebrated with us last night at our @AhsokaOfficial fan events around the world!” the Star Wars Twitter account stated in its lengthy post.

“We’re excited to announce that new episodes of #Ahsoka are now launching Tuesdays at 6PM PT, beginning with our two-episode premiere on August 22, only on @DisneyPlus.”

A one-minute, four-second video clip was posted along with the tweet, featuring enthusiastic Star Wars fans attending various promo events and also from the soon-to-be-released limited series.

Before the Disney+ series moved to its Tuesday release schedule, it was set to premiere on August 23 and be released on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Following the premiere of two episodes of Ahsoka on August 22, a new episode will air every Tuesday at 6 p.m. Pacific Standard Time until October 3, the air date of the series’ eighth and final episode.

The majority of Star Wars Franchise fans immediately responded to the announcement with reply tweets and/or quote tweets, expressing their excitement about the new and early premiere date for Ahsoka, in addition to the new airtime.

Twitter user @kelly_knox wrote in a reply tweet “the team that put this together overnight,” to which the official Star Wars Twitter account responded with “send snacks #Ahsoka.”

Other Twitter users praised the move as it worked perfectly for those living on the East Coast of the United States and/or allowed them to watch the show when they had free time during their busy study schedules.

However, some fans, particularly those not living in the US, were unhappy with the airtime change, as one user sarcastically responded to the announcement in a quote tweet: “(Me:) crying in UK time zone.”

Twitter user @guerraDgalaxia saw both the positives and negatives of the limited series’ new air date and airtime, writing in a Quote Tweet, “I know everyone on the European side is frustrated with this time change, but for those of us who were in school/work when episodes used to.”

Part of the Star Wars franchise, Ahsoka is a spin-off of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian in the same time frame as that series and its other interrelated spin-offs.

The limited series follows Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) who investigates an emerging threat to the galaxy after the fall of the Galactic Empire.

Dawson, 44, also played Ahsoka in live action in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

Ahead of the two-episode premiere of Ahsoka on August 22 on Disney+, several trailers for the limited series were released over the summer months.

The trailer released on August 13 teased Hayden Christensen’s return to the Star Wars franchise as Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano’s now-deceased former Jedi Master who had fallen to the dark side of the force and became Darth Vader.

Christensen, 42, played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the final two films of the prequel trilogy films: Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005). He would later reprise his role in a voice cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) and reprise the role personally in the Disney+ miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022).
