Star Wars’ $180M-budget prequel series The Acolyte CANCELED by Disney+ after one season
Lucasfilm has decided to pull the plug on its big-budget prequel series The Acolyte, just over a month after the first season finale aired on Disney+.
Sources said Term Monday’s mystery thriller series — set a century before George Lucas’ prequel films — which sees the Sith infiltrate the Jedi during the final days of the High Republic era, was reportedly canceled for a second season.

Carrie-Anne Moss, Jodie Turner-Smith, Charlie Barnett, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, Manny Jacinto, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, Margarita Levieva, Lauren Brady, Leah Brady, Harry Trevaldwyn and David Harewood also performed at the Acolyte .

The Acolyte got off to a strong start with its first two episodes on June 4, which garnered 11.1 million views worldwide in the first five days. However, the series didn’t last until its finale on July 16, despite a cameo from Jedi Master Yoda.
Speaking of Yoda, it doesn’t appear that The Mandalorian will get a fourth season, as creator Jon Favreau and producer Dave Filoni have wrapped the plot into the film The Mandalorian & Grogu, set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
“We just started filming a couple of weeks ago,” Favreau says informed On August 9, fans gathered at the Anaheim Convention Center.
“But it’s D23, so we thought we’d stop by and at least say hello, because it’s the last D23 before the movie comes out. So we had to put something together for you, right? It’s a whole new adventure that follows these two characters, and here’s a little taste of what we’re planning.”
Lucasfilm previously confirmed that a second season of The Mandalorian spin-off series Ahsoka is “in development,” starring Rosario Dawson as former Jedi apprentice Ahsoka Tano.
Percy Jackson and The Olympians were also renewed for a second season on Disney+, while American Born Chinese, Renegade Nell and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law have all been canceled.
