Star Trek: Lower Decks’ SDCC teaser promises a “Klingon as hell” adventure in Season 5
Among the other revelations about upcoming Star Trek plans at the “Star Trek Universe” panel on San Diego Comic-ConIn Hall H, fans found out when they could expect the next season of the unconventional, delightfully hectic animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks. a teaser trailer for season 5 of Lower decks lists the season start date as October 24. The season is expected to last 10 episodes, and the series will conclude with Season 5.
The teaser trailer is mostly a sentimental celebration of the previous four seasons of Lower decks adventures among the downtrodden junior officers of the little-respected Starfleet ship USS Cerritos. (“Moopsy!”) Eventually, however, it reveals the Cerritos encountering a quantum rift (“That’s the third one this month!” complains Ensign Mariner) that brings them face to face with an alternate universe version of their ship and the characters from the series. Other adventures foreshadowed in brief flashes include alien disguises, a society entering post-scarcity and destroying all of its money, and a “Klingon as hell!” showdown with one of Trek’s favorite alien species.
We will learn more about the new Lower decks season closer to release. Until then, we can hope for more live-action crossover episodes featuring these characters in other Trek settings.
