Stanley Tucci weighs in on possibility that he’ll return for Devil Wears Prada sequel

Stanley Tucci says he would be ‘thrilled’ to return to his role as Nigel Kipling in a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.

“If it happens, all I can say is I’ll be happy,” he said of the sequel to the hit 2006 film, which also starred Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and his sister-in-law Emily Blunt.

‘I don’t really know. I didn’t do that [heard] about the plot or whatever. “I really didn’t do that,” he said People.

The sequel’s story follows Streep’s Miranda Priestley and her career in the present day, as traditional magazine publishing is on the decline and she must navigate an increasingly digital industry and world.

Rumor has it that Streep, Blunt and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who adapted the original 2006 film from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name, are all on board for the sequel. Variety.

Tucci was asked if reuniting with his fellow cast from the film would be “fun.”

“I don’t think fun is the right word,” he admitted, adding, “I think we would have one of the best times ever.”

β€œI’ve done a lot of movies, I’ve probably done almost 100 movies, and I don’t even know how many episodes of television, but that experience was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had,” Tucci continued.

β€œIt was just this perfect combination of people, of [director] David [Frankel] to Meryl to Annie, and to Emily, who is now my sister-in-law,” he said. “It’s just amazing.”

None of the reports mention whether Anne Hathaway would return as Andrea “Andy” Sachs, or whether other supporting cast members would return, such as Simon Baker, Adrian Grenier, Gisele Bundchen and Tracie Thoms.

But before a potential sequel gets underway, Tucci has a new book to promote, What I Ate in One Year: (and Related Thoughts).

Tucci spoke to People about how his latest book started, saying, β€œI didn’t know what to write.

β€œThe publishers wanted me to write something, but after I wrote the first book I thought, ‘I don’t know what to write,’ and my wife, who is a literary agent, said, ‘Just write down what you eat . a year,” and so I did.”

‘You start writing and something just comes out, because every time you write about food it’s a personal experience and it brings up other personal experiences or it brings back related memories from your childhood, about people who are no longer there are or friends who are, but you don’t see…’ he explained.

What I Ate in One Year will be available in bookstores on October 15 and is his fourth book.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 doesn’t have a release date or a confirmed cast at this time, but the 2006 film that inspired it is available to stream on Prime Video, Hulu, and Max.
