Stan announces three new spinoffs for The Walking Dead series

The US’s top-rated cable television series, The Walking Dead, is expanding with three new spin-offs and will be available to stream in Australia.

The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and the Untitled Rick and Michonne series will all launch exclusively on Stan in 2023 and 2024.

Dead City will premiere on June 19, the same day as the US, while Daryl Dixon will be available later this year and the Untitled Rick and Michonne series will release in 2024.

The spin-offs will serve as a sequel to The Walking Dead franchise.

Fan favorites Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will reprise their roles as Maggie Greene and Negan Smith, and both will serve as executive producers.

Scott M. Gimple, who previously served as one of The Walking Dead’s showrunners, will also executive produce the program.

In addition to the stars of the program, the show’s cast is complemented by artists such as Jonathan Higginbotham, Michael Anthony and Mahina Napoleon.

Production began in New Jersey last July and ended in October.

“We are delighted that AMC Networks has selected Stan, Australia’s leading local service, and entrusted us with the next three spin-offs in their exceptional The Walking Dead Universe,” said Stan Chief Executive Officer Martin Kugeler.

“In recent months there has been an increase in premium content to license in Australia, which we have been predicting for some time, and the successful acquisition of The Walking Dead spin-offs is a win not only for Stan but also for the Australian public.’

He added, “We will continue to provide our subscribers with excellent Stan Originals, complemented by world-class shows from the US, UK and around the world.”

The series, whose premiere date was revealed to the public last March, will serve as one of the successors to The Walking Dead

Stan Chief Content Officer Cailah Scobie also said, “The Walking Dead is a television phenomenon that has captured fans around the world, and we can’t wait to bring the next iteration of the franchise to Australian audiences.

These three spin-off series will see some of The Walking Dead’s most iconic and beloved characters continue their journey and promise an exciting expansion for The Walking Dead Universe.

“With an internationally acclaimed cast including Norman Reedus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Lauren Cohan, Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, the excitement over this brand new series is a testament to the franchise’s loyal and loyal fan base.”

Cohan previously spoke about the program during an interview with Weekly entertainmentstating that her character Greene, who previously fought her way through the American South, would face unfamiliar territory.

“She has to go through this new terrain of New York City. That’s going to be very difficult and physically challenging,” she said.

The actress went on to tell the media that “when we get to the new show, Maggie’s biggest weakness will definitely be exploited.”

She also discussed her character’s implications of partnering with the man who killed her husband.

“It’s going to be very, very hard for her to continue even with the best of intentions she had to give Negan his territory and get on with her life and find hope and try to build this future,” she said.

The six-episode first season of The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere on June 19.

The official trailer for the upcoming horror drama series The Walking Dead: Dead City was released last month on The Walking Dead franchise’s official YouTube channel
