Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl Developer GSC Game World has announced a two-month delay for emergency bug fixes.
The highly anticipated first-person shooter was set to release on September 5, 2024. It will now release roughly two and a half months later, on November 20. The game is still scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC, and on day one on Xbox Game Pass.
As reported by IGN, Stalker 2 Director Yevhen Grygorovych issued the following statement regarding the latest delay: “We know you may be tired of waiting, and we greatly appreciate your patience. These two extra months will give us the opportunity to fix more ‘unexpected anomalies’ (or simply ‘bugs’, as you call them).
“We are forever grateful for your continued support and understanding – it means the world to us. We are as excited as you are to finally release the game and experience it for yourself.”
This is not the first time Stalker 2 has suffered a significant delay. In January, it was announced that the game would miss its original release date of Q1 2024 “as a wave of polish would follow.” At the time, it was scheduled to release nine months later, in September.
Despite all the setbacks, including a pretty scary office fire late last year and of course the ongoing war in the developer’s home country of Ukraine, fans still seem to be excited about Stalker 2. The game won the ‘Most Wanted’ award at the PC Gaming Show 2023, so it looks like the hype surrounding this highly anticipated shooter is still alive and kicking.
Until November you might be able to keep yourself afloat with the Stalker: Legends of the Zone trilogy pack that included all the original games. It also made them available for the first time on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
