A suburban mom captured the heartwarming moment when a police officer stopped on patrol to play soccer with six kids.

Brisbane’s mother filmed interacting with an officer from Stafford Police Station in the city’s northern suburbs in the front yard of her home.

The officer was seen kicking, heading and footsteps with the children’s ball as he ran up and down the yard playing a game with them.

The mother told 9News the cop impressed the kids, showing cops to be approachable and “not scary” – adding playtime was a memory she would keep forever.

The footage showed the officer – who told the kids his name was Brady Duggan – impressing the kids with fancy footwork and encouraging them to score goals.

He said to one of the girls playing with them, ‘you’re the best one here, I think’, while one of the kids said, ‘yes, let the police have a little fun’.

Three other officers were seen watching and talking to each other from the other side of the road as police vehicles parked in the street.

The officer did some fisticuffs with the kids on his team and said to another, “Next time I’ll be on your team.”

The moment received support online from commenters who were encouraged to “spice up” children’s lives by the time the officer spent with them.

“Show them they’re just ordinary people too,” one said of the policeman.

“This is what community is about, good on him,” said another.

“Thank you so much, what a great way to brighten up the day for these little kids… hopefully one day our future footballers,” commented a third.

“It’s great to see them make time in their busy schedules to kick the ball around a bit with these kids,” gushed another.
