Stacey Solomon has revealed how she learned to be such a sweet hand around the house.
Speaking to This Morning on Monday, the mother-of-five revealed that her parents taught her to look after herself from an early age.
“My parents always taught us to do everything,” she told Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.

‘I always say that my family is my greatest privilege. My father and mother both strongly believed in independence.’
“Because of the way we grew up and where we grew up, my dad always told us, ‘You never know if you’re going to have the money to hire someone to do something.’
“You have to learn, if you have to do it, you don’t want to be stuck somewhere with a leaky pipe or whatever it is, so he taught us the basics of almost everything. In that sense we were very lucky in our childhood, thanks dad!’
Stacey grew up in Dagenham with her father David, a photographer, and her mother Fiona, a nurse. She has a brother and sister, as well as a stepsister, two stepbrothers and a half-brother after her parents split and moved on to other relationships when Stacey was nine.
Stacey’s latest DIY project is her new Channel 4 series Renovation Rescue, which premiered last week.
In the show, the crafty star helps people let down by cowboy builders by teaching them her DIY hacks to save money and get their renovations back on track.
Renovation Rescue is being produced by Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine, with Stacey revealing she was flattered to be involved.
“It’s not like she called me,” she insisted. ‘In my dreams it would happen like this. She wanted to have her first British show.”

‘I don’t even think she knows who I am, but it was a real compliment. I thought, ‘Wow, this is it, I’m going to Hollywood.’
Stacey also has an award-winning DIY show Sort Your Life Out, which has run for four series on the BBC and recently won an award.

“At her request, I still sing for my grandmother in her nursing home,” she said. ‘I like to sing, but only without pressure. My family still drives me away on special occasions.
‘It’s mind-boggling to think that X Factor was 15 years ago. I didn’t even think I would have a career anymore. I’m lucky to get those opportunities at all.’
