Stacey Solomon has shared a new health update after being rushed to hospital on the last day of her family holiday to Jamaica
The Loose Women star, 34, took to social media on Sunday to reveal she was struck by an infection during her trip
‘I felt a little normal, it was everything I needed, a little more human. I don’t know how long it will last, so I’m making the best of it. Happy Wednesday. I love you all.”
It comes after Stacey said she would be taking it easy for a while after her hospital experience left her ‘scared’.
She had jetted off to the Caribbean for a festive holiday with 20 of her relatives, along with her husband Joe Swash, their children, Stacey’s sister Jemma, her father David and her nieces and nephews.
However, the day before their flight back home, the mother of five suddenly became ill and her condition only worsened during the evening.
She explained: “We had the worst exit from Jamaica of all time. And I can’t even get over it. Because it doesn’t feel real in my head. And today was the first day I felt like I walked around the house and felt normal.”
She recalled, “But anyway, long story short, the day before we traveled home, I started feeling a little fluy, so I thought, oh I’m getting that flu that everyone has.” Annoying. That’s okay, we’re going home tomorrow, so I’ll get through it, get over it and move on.
‘So I kept going and as the day went on it just got worse and worse. So I thought, “You know what Joe, you take the kids out to dinner, I’ll just go to bed. I’m not feeling well, I gotta sleep this off.”
“And then he came back from dinner and took one look at me and called my sister and my mom because he looked like she was looking messy. He was like sweating and laying there and I was like, “Oh my god.”

She had flown to the Caribbean with 20 of her relatives for a festive holiday, along with her husband Joe Swash, their children, Stacey’s sister Jemma, her father David and her nieces and nephews.
“So my sister comes into the room and I know it’s serious when my sister comes in. Because she’s a nurse, she’s very much like you, unless you’re not doing well, and then she’ll be like, wait a minute.
‘So she came in and said, ‘We need to get you up, cool you down and get you some paracetamol’. Did all her nurse stuff and every time she checked my temperature all I remembered was that she didn’t say anything and I was like, “Jemma, what’s going on?” And she said, “No, it’s okay!”
‘But that wasn’t the case. Because afterwards she told me that my temperature went up and not down, and that is not a good sign.’
Stacey continued: “So they called the medical team at the hotel and the nurse came down, took one look at me and put an oxygen mask on.
“And then she covered me with wet towels and my temperature was still too high, so she literally said she had to go to the hospital to get some IV antibiotics and fluids put into her and tested.”
She started laughing as she concluded, “So yeah, I ended up in the hospital in Jamaica. I don’t know why I’m laughing, but it doesn’t feel real. Have you ever had an experience that made you think, “Did that even happen to me?”
‘I was completely normal, one minute absolutely fine and the next minute I wasn’t kidding, I was in hospital on a drip with an oxygen mask on! I’ve never had an oxygen mask in my life. I’m so dry from everything and I just feel so dirty.’
Stacey continued, “So anyway, the IV and everything went in and I immediately started feeling so much better. Still rough, but much better than what I was.
Stacey begged the hospital to let her fly home with the rest of her family, saying she felt much better on Sunday and was ‘a normal person again’
She thanked her followers for messaging and checking in during her absence and admitted that the experience had left her “scared” so she was going to take it easy over the next few days.
“We were there from the night before we were supposed to leave until the morning and I was clearly thinking, ‘Please let me go home, I don’t want to stay here alone if I’m not feeling well, just let me get home.’
“And they got me to a point where they were happy for me to fly home. So I took the flight home. Poor Joe had all the kids for 10 hours!
“And I literally went to sleep as soon as I got home and today is the first day I’m starting to feel like a normal person again.”
She then added, “I just wanted to give you an update and I think I’m just going to really listen to my body because I’m one of those people who thinks it’s okay and then I end up in the hospital in Jamaica.”
“So I’m not going to do that, I’m going to listen to my body and let myself get better, and by February I just have to get the Christmas decorations done. I’ll be that fool!’
She thanked her followers for messaging and checking in during her absence and admitted that the experience had left her “scared” so she was going to take it easy over the next few days.
Stacey said: ‘I’m just going to rest and hopefully feel back to normal in a few days. But even then, I’m going to take it slow because I never want to be in that situation again. It actually scared me a bit.”
She later took to her Stories again to reveal that it had been an infection but that the antibiotics made her feel better and shared a photo of herself resting with her two dogs, Teddy and Peanut, on her lap.
She later continued her Stories again to reveal that she had developed an infection, but was feeling better with the antibiotics.
Stacey shared a photo of herself resting, stretched out on the couch with her two dogs, Teddy and Peanut, on her lap.
She captioned the sweet photo, “Teddy & Peanut are the best nurses in the world. Thank you for all your kind messages. I’ll be back to life soon.
“A lot of you are asking what it actually was. I walked in for five minutes and still didn’t say anything. It was ultimately an infection that caused my fever. But the antibiotics are working well, so fingers crossed they’ll get rid of them completely.’
