Stacey Solomon addressed a clip where she talks about the 2018 royal family, which recently resurfaced after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

In a new interview with The Guardian, the Loose Women star, 32, claimed she has “nothing against the monarchy” after previously saying she “don’t have the obsession” for them.

She explained how difficult it was to watch the clip bubble up a week before Her Majesty’s funeral, because she “didn’t say it on the Queen’s death.”

Speaking to the publication, she claimed that the video was misrepresented. “I have nothing against the monarchy and the Queen seemed like a lovely lady, but I don’t understand why we are paying a contribution to one of the richest families in the world.”

Stacey further elaborated on the point she made in the original discussion: “Some of our kids didn’t even get school meals, and to know that a huge amount of money goes to someone who doesn’t need it, I just couldn’t make it up.” .’

“I don’t know why they can’t exist as a cool famous family. Why do they have to be in charge of something and have that financial contribution?’

It came after Stacey was slammed by her fans after a video of her showing the royal family on Loose Women surfaced in 2018 and went viral.

In the clip, again shared by a fan on TikTok, the presenter got into a discussion with her co-hosts Jane Moore, Linda Robson and Christine Lampard about the UK’s fixation with the Royals.

“I don’t understand why we are so obsessed with these people who are exactly the same,” asked the panelist, 31, frustrated after even more discussion about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

She explained: ‘I’m probably not of anyone else’s opinion in the whole world, but I just don’t get it [the Royal Family]. I do not understand.’

She gestured to the rest of the Loose Women panel and continued, “As if it could be the four of us sitting there.”

Jane then chimed in: “They’re going to be celebrities to me.” To which Stacey quickly replied, “That’s all they are.”

“The Queen is brilliant,” Jane defended. “But for what?” asked Stacey. “For duty, responsibility,” argued the journalist.

“She’s always worked very hard, hasn’t she,” Linda added.

“But I would work really hard if the whole country paid me to have about a dozen houses and work really hard,” Stacey said.

“They don’t pay for all the houses,” Jane said. ‘We contribute about £39 million a year. It costs £300m a year to run the royal family.

‘But I’m with you. After the queen, I would have them all on my bike and live in a terraced house. But I love the Queen, I think she’s fantastic,” she added.

Stacey went on to highlight how the money spent on the royal family could be funneled toward more philanthropic purposes, such as homelessness.

She said, ‘It’s freezing cold outside and people are homeless and these people [the Royals] have similar houses.

“It does get a little frustrating at times because I don’t see the purpose of all the money going to this one whole family.”
