Southport stabbing: Up to six children feared seriously hurt in horror major incident after knifeman targets holiday club
At least six children are feared seriously injured after a knife-wielding man ‘stabbed several people at a holiday resort’.
Armed police officers have arrested a man and seized a knife following an attack that left several people injured in Southport, Merseyside.
Officers advised people to avoid the area around Hart Street but said there was ‘no wider danger’ to the public.
A worker at The Bridge Cafe on Hart Street told MailOnline: ‘We were told someone had been stabbing children.
‘It’s packed. Everything is cordoned off, police cars at every intersection. Parents are waiting outside. I think [the ‘holiday club’] ‘Give lessons to children.’
Merseyside Police said: ‘We can confirm that emergency services are in Southport following the major incident this morning, Monday 29 July.
‘At around 11:50am we were called to a home on Hart Street to a report of a stabbing.
Several people, including children, have been stabbed after a man committed a stabbing attack ‘in a holiday club’ this morning
Officers urged people to avoid the area around Hart Street but said there was ‘no wider danger’ to the public
