Not-for-profit healthcare organization St John of God Health Care has announced the rollout of a Magentus oncology information management system across its hospitals in Australia.
The Charm Evolution oncology IMS connects crucial information about the care trajectory of a cancer patient in one digital file.
Based on a press release, the system will be introduced as a centralized oncology patient record across SJOG’s Australian hospitals: Bunbury, Geraldton, Midland, Murdoch, Berwick, Bendigo and Ballarat.
WHY IT MATTERS
Charm Evolution offers seamless interoperability with SJOG’s enterprise PAS, digital health record, pathology and My Health Record, enabling “better collaboration and continuity of care” through this nationwide deployment, Magentus said.
THE GREATER CONTEXT
The national rollout of Charm Evolution follows a success pilot at the Bendat Family Comprehensive Cancer Center of SJOG Subiaco Hospital.
Peter Smart, the hospital’s chief pharmacist, said the system has “significantly improved the clarity of prescribing and administration instructions and the ability to enforce safety features.”
He added that the oncology IMS has also provided “better visibility and reporting on patient status and wait times, better management of treatment pathways and improved communication between our nursing and pharmacy teams, with real-time notifications on patient readiness Products.”
The solution is provided as part of SJOG’s contract with then-Citadel Health, which in May consolidated with Genie Solutions and Wellbeing Software to form the company now known as Magentus.
In other related news, Magentus recently supplied the same oncology IMS to Peninsula Health, which operates six public health facilities in Victoria’s Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region.
