A squadron of foreign fighter jets roars over Sydney mystifying locals: ‘What was that!?’

A squadron of foreign fighter jets rocked Sydneysiders as they took to the skies on Tuesday.
The planes, which are from the Republic of Korea Air Force and known as ‘black eagles’, flew over the city around noon on Tuesday.
Those in the city’s CBD and Northern Beaches reported hearing a loud roar as the planes flew through the sky in unison.
The planes are in Australia ahead of the Australian International Airshow which begins next month at Victoria’s Avalon Airport.
The planes, which are from the Republic of Korea Air Force, and known as ‘black eagles’, flew over Sydney around midday on Tuesday.
Those in the city’s CBD and Northern Beaches reported hearing a loud roar as the planes flew in unison.
Many residents on their lunch breaks wondered what the sudden noise was.
“Everyone stopped dead,” wrote one person.
‘Why are there extremely noisy fighter jets flying over Sydney?’ another tweeted, while one labeled them ‘deafening’.
Another Sydney resident said the planes nearly collided with a Qantas plane that was flying nearby.
The eight-member squadron is known around the world for its aerobatics.
The team have already proven their skills in Asia, Europe and the UK, and this visit marks their first time Down Under.
His squad’s signature move is the ‘Taegeuk’, in which the jets create the flag of the Republic of Korea.
