Spurs fans continue their campaign against Ange Postecoglou becoming Tottenham manager: ‘They won’t respect him, they won’t give him time, they won’t allow him to play Ange Ball’
- Some Spurs fans started the #NoToAnge campaign in May
- Despite protests, the Aussie is appointed manager
- Dissatisfied fans continued their campaign anyway
Nothing but formalities stand in the way of Aussie Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham manager next Premier League season, but a group of disgruntled Spurs fans are still rallied against him.
After taking five trophies in two years with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, the former Socceroos boss has earned his place at the big table and is expected to take over the club.
Postecoglou’s appointment comes after the team parted ways with Antonio Conte and subsequently failed to secure the signatures of Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso and German coach Julian Nagelsmann, who is in talks with Paris Saint Germain.
Postecoglou is no stranger to being a secondary choice as he was only recruited by Celtic after their failed attempt to secure a deal with Eddie Howe. Instead, Howe signed with Newcastle United.
As excitement grows over Postecoglou’s possible move to Spurs, not all of their fans are excited about his possible arrival.
The campaign by a section of Tottenham supporters began in May and continues, even though Postecoglou seems certain to be appointed manager
The Aussie succeeds Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, but was not Spurs’ first choice when it came to signing a new manager
In late May, the hashtags #NoToAnge and #NOTOPOSTECOGLOU appeared, with several fans expressing concern about the possible nomination.
Celtic supporters were also doubtful in 2021, but the Australian coach quickly got their approval as victories, goals and championships followed.
Turning things around at Tottenham Hotspur could prove more challenging for Postecoglou, however, as he will likely have to convince another group of fans that he’s the man to turn things around.
Even as his appointment becomes more and more a fait accompli, a section of Spurs fans are continuing the #NoToAnge campaign along with an attempt to remove Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
‘I’m ready. I refuse to celebrate this despicable mediocrity. Someone let me know as soon as Levy sells out and I’ll be back. #NoToAnge #NoToPostecoglou #LevyOut #ENICOut,” one fan tweeted.
“He’s not good enough for world giants Tottingham Hotspurs #notoange #gettrending,” wrote another.
Day 8 of asking @SpursOfficial to nominate [Argentine manager] Marcelo Gallardo as manager of Tottenham Hotspur. He will bring us great glory,” added another.
‘Who is Ange Postecoglou anyway? Not good enough for Spurs imho – let him stay at Celtic’, another asked.
Celtic fans had their doubts when Postecoglou arrived in 2021, but he delivered five trophies in two years, including a historic Scottish treble

Even some Celtic supporters are opposed to the move as they believe Postecoglou is doomed to failure.
They won’t respect him, they won’t give him time, they won’t allow him to play Ange Ball. He leaves with love, but we all know what will happen,” one fan wrote.
The 57-year-old built an outstanding career during his tenure in Australia and Japan, earning significant trophies with Brisbane Roar and Yokohama F. Marinos, before finally joining Celtic Park in June 2021.
Despite criticism, he has successfully secured consecutive Scottish Premiership titles. The most recent championship victory was sealed with a 5-0 victory over Aberdeen.
Then the Aussie sealed two seasons of dominance with the Scottish treble at the weekend with a victory in the Scottish Cup.
His appointment as Tottenham coach is expected to be made official this week, hashtags or no hashtags.
