Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of striker Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central.

The 19-year-old has signed a five-year contract and the transfer includes a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

He is Ange Postecoglou’s second signing of the day after defender Micky van de Ven, who previously completed his £43 million transfer from Wolfsburg.

Veliz has been part of Argentina’s U20 squad and has also been a target for Nottingham Forest, but it is Spurs who have secured his services after opening talks last week.

The young striker broke into the Rosario Central squad in 2021 and has gone from strength to strength ever since, scoring 11 goals in 23 appearances this season.

The club also announced the arrival of Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven earlier in the day

The deals bring Tottenham’s total number of new players this summer to six.

Last week they brought in Blackburn defender Ashley Phillips on a five-year contract and he has cost around £2 million.

That followed the signing of James Maddison for £45 million, Dejan Kulusevski for £25 million and Manor Solomon on a free.
