Sprawling California estate where HBO series Sharp Objects was filmed goes up for auction with NO minimum bid – meaning buyers could snap up the 1,745-acre property for as little as $1!

A sprawling California mansion where the HBO series Sharp Objects was filmed is going to auction next month – and buyers can buy it for just $1.

The 1,745-acre, five-bedroom estate, which previously sold for $6.5 million, will go under the hammer on February 3 with no minimum bid.

It was made famous as a key location for the 2018 thriller Sharp Objects, starring Amy Adams as an alcoholic crime reporter who returns to her hometown to investigate the murder of two young girls.

The house, which served as the childhood home of Adams’ character, called the Crellin Estate, even had a yellow interior that was painted blue especially for the filming. The local population acted as extras.

Listing agent Kathy Tang, from property company Compass, told DailyMail.com: ‘Everyone in the neighborhood thought they were going to be a movie star!

‘The house was for sale in June for eight million dollars, but is now being auctioned. It takes a special kind of buyer, because not everyone wants that much land.’

Although Sharp Objects is set in Missouri, the house is actually in Mendocino County, between San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

It offers expansive views of the surrounding landscape and comes complete with a 4,900-square-foot barn, gazebo, six ponds and seven natural springs.
