Television and sports radio host Laura Woods refused to give a social media troll the last laugh after ridiculing the anonymous commenter’s outrageous insult.
Woods posted a simple tweet following Sheffield Wednesday’s League One play-off victory over Peterborough United on Thursday night.
Wednesday progressed to the final after fighting back in a thrilling 5-1 victory over Peterborough before winning the knockout tie on penalties.
Woods labeled Darren Moore’s side’s comeback from a first leg defeat as ‘excellent’ and soon became the target of vicious sexist abuse.
The public account does not reveal the identity of the abuser who responded to Woods’ first tweet by calling her a “slut.”

However, if the alleged Peterborough supporter thought they were going to silence the 35-year-old, they were seriously wrong.
A witty Woods played on the insult and responded by mocking Peterborough’s playoff defeat by posting a terse reply that left her followers stranded.
Woods replied, “Except it’s you who’s bent over tonight, isn’t it.”
Her response has since been viewed 128,000 times, with many comments laughing at the genius reply that silenced the agitator.
A delighted Woods fan added, “The second best has come back from last night. Absolutely fantastic.’
Another replied: ‘That’s a better comeback than Sheffield Wednesday’s.’

Woods is no stranger to social media abuse and as late as December was told by another sexist commentator to “get back in the kitchen.”
However, Woods has thrived in the sports broadcasting industry, winning back-to-back presenter of the year titles at the Sports Journalism Awards between 2020 and 2021.
Meanwhile, she has also been touted as the new main presenter for BT Sport’s Premier League coverage next season.
