SPORTS AGENDA: Premier League clubs warned by FA over transfer scams by hackers…
English clubs have been targeted by hackers, who send fraudulent invoices related to the transfers of foreign players.
The problem is so serious that the FA has issued an alert to clubs urging them to review their email security and raise the alarm with their finance departments. The FA also urges parties to report to themselves and the relevant authorities any requests they believe to be bogus.
The FA say they have ‘seen an increase in reports of cloned or hacked emails … particularly in relation to payments to foreign clubs’.
Clubs have been told to confirm account details before instructing the FA to make payments and to check the FIFA system to ensure the information is legitimate.
Payments to foreign clubs are made through an FA clearing system, hence their involvement. Clubs have also been told to be wary if a bank account is in a different area than where the club is located and to watch email addresses for discrepancies.

The pair took part in a penalty shootout and were met with boos and screams
Redknapp wore a Liverpool kit and Richards a City shirt, fans responded with boos and chants.
Redknapp won and the forfeit was for the loser to wear a United shirt.
The duo took it well and were later spotted taking selfies with United fans. They also spent a lot of time with supporters in the disability section.
Those United fans are unlikely to receive an apology – a club source confirmed they had allowed Sky’s commitment to go ahead, given the broadcaster’s status as a valued stakeholder.
Lord Coe launches unofficial campaign for International Olympic Committee president in 2025
Lord Coe’s unopposed re-election as president of World Athletics in Budapest last week is believed to have marked the start of his unofficial campaign to become IOC president in 2025.
His old rival, Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka, hasn’t fared as well.
Bubka was an IOC candidate against Thomas Bach 10 years ago, but his chances of holding out are all but lost after allegations he is taking a pro-Russian stance in the war in Ukraine, he claims to vehemently deny.
The timing of the reports raised eyebrows, but the damage has been done.
UEFA president absent from Women’s World Cup final
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin was notably absent from the Women’s World Cup final, where the organization was represented by Nadine Kessler, their technical director of the women’s game.
The distance from Australia and the length of the journey were cited as the main reasons for his absence.
This is the same man who last year had no problem flying to Paraguay to attend a CONMEBOL council meeting.
