A passenger on the Spirit of Tasmania has reportedly died after falling overboard.
The man’s body was recovered from the water off Geelong around 8:50 p.m.
According to 7NEWS, the crew had previously told other passengers that he was safely recovered.
The ship reportedly turned over en route to Tasmania shortly after 8pm, when a search was carried out on board for the missing passenger and personnel counted.
The death is not being treated as suspicious. The ship is now returning to port.

A passenger revealed on social media: ‘After trying the crew couldn’t revive him, so we’re going back to Geelong to get him off the boat, very sad.’
A spokesman for Victoria Police said: ‘Police will prepare a report for the coroner after the body of a man was recovered from Geelong waters at around 8.50pm on Sunday, April 30.
“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.”
