Spider-Man 4 is coming and will shoot next summer, says Tom Holland

The previous film in the franchise, Spider-Man: No way homeended tragically alone with Peter Parker. His secret identity as Spider-Man (and all knowledge of Peter Parker’s existence) was destroyed by Dr. Strange wiped from public consciousness.

“We have a concept, which is excellent,” Holland said when asked if he would continue in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. “It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job. I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I would sit down and read it together, and sometimes we’d bounce around the living room, like: This is a real film worthy of the fans’ respect. But there are a few things we need to figure out before we can actually get that going.

The next Spider-Man movie may offer a more grounded, back-to-basics version of Marvel’s beloved wall-crawler. According to comments from Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige in 2022, Spider-Man will move “to the street hero” pocket of the MCU, far away from the intergalactic and reality-blending adventures that Holland’s Spider-Man is known for. If No way home viewers are well aware, Peter’s friends have no memory of him, his only remaining family member has died, and it’s unclear what his status as an Avenger is.

Holland made his MCU debut as Peter Parker in 2016 Captain America: Civil War. In addition to appearing in three standalone Spidey pictures, Holland reprized the role Avengers: Infinite War And Avengers: Endgame.

Producer Amy Pascal previously announced that Holland would return to the role for a new series of films. “This isn’t the last movie we’re going to make with Marvel – (this isn’t) the last Spider-Man movie,” Pascal told Fandango in an interview ahead of No way home‘s release. “We’re getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel, it’s just not part of… we’re looking at this as three movies, and now we’re moving on to the next three. This isn’t the last of our MCU films.”
