Spencer Matthews’ brand-new World Record Challenge REVEALED as star looks to top his historic 30 desert marathons in 30 days

Spencer Matthews has set himself a brand new world record challenge: seven full Ironman triathlons on seven continents.

The 36-year-old presenter and former Made In Chelsea star is aiming to top his historic 30 desert marathons in 30 days, three months after running 750 miles on sand in the Jordanian desert, raising almost £600,000 for Global’s Make Some Noise campaign call.

For his next mission, the father of three will attempt seven Ironman triathlons across seven continents, as quickly as physically possible.

In each triathlon, Spencer completes a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and a full 42.2km marathon on each of the seven continents, finishing with the toughest of them all, in Antarctica.

Spencer, who is married to 39-year-old TV presenter Vogue Williams, aims to complete his toughest challenge yet in less than four weeks, becoming the only person in history to do so in four years has done.

Spencer said: “This is without a doubt the most mentally exhausting, physically demanding and dangerous challenge I have ever undertaken and will push me to my breaking point.

“Running 30 consecutive marathons earlier this year opened my eyes to what the human mind and body are capable of.

‘Despite the grueling conditions, I fell in love with running even more. As soon as I crossed the finish line, I was eager for the next challenge.

“This is undoubtedly ambitious, but what I have discovered is the love of pushing myself and achieving what would previously have been unattainable for me.”

If successful, Spencer will hold the Guinness World Record for completing a triathlon distance of 230.6 kilometers on seven continents for a man.

As Spencer attempts to conquer the seven full Ironman triathlons on seven continents, he is filmed by a TV crew from production company Whisper as they document his epic journey for a new documentary series.

He added: ‘I know I’ve bitten off a lot here, but the countdown begins now and I’m excited to be working with the team at Whisper to capture every second of what I hope viewers will find an exciting journey . ‘

In preparation for the ‘Seven in Seven’, Spencer will be taking up two new sports, both swimming and cycling, in which he has very limited experience.

Speaking to Chris Evans on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show on Tuesday, Spencer said the Ironman Triathlons will push him to his limits.

He said: ‘I wanted to try to do something bigger and exciting on a global scale. It will be quite tough…

‘Initially I wanted to start with Antarctica to get it out of the way, but then realized it might be depressing not to finish it.

‘It’s quite complicated, the temperature is below zero, we swim in water of 0.2 degrees…

“We have a lot of work to do, a lot of preparation.”

He added: “We are aiming to do it within four weeks. I think we can do it in about two weeks.

“But Antarctica is like Mount Everest in many ways, because the altitude can change.”
