More than 20 stolen cars known as ‘kill cars’ intended to be used in shootings and kidnappings have been taken off the streets by police.

The cars were all found scattered across Sydney’s west and south-west in suburbs including Berala, Penrith and St Marys.

Gloves, balaclavas, fake number plates and even jerry cans filled with fuel were found in the cars by NSW Police detectives known as Taskforce Magnus.

NSW Police Detective Chief Inspector Jason Weinstein said the cars were stolen and then auctioned to crime syndicates in Sydney.

“What we see is that the cars are stolen and then put up for sale in WhatsApp groups and sold to the highest bidder,” he said. The Daily Telegraph.

“There is no doubt that these vehicles would be used to carry out serious acts of violence for crime syndicates.

“Some of these vehicles had jerry cans in them and were usually used for some form of crime.”

He said crime syndicates used to work in such a way that a car would be stolen after the offense was committed, not before, but that had changed now.

Detectives from Taskforce Magnus this week charged two men over the fatal shooting of drug lord Alen Moradian, 48, in Bondi Junction in Sydney’s east on June 27.

Moradian was shot in a brutal daylight ambush as he sat in his black Audi in an underground car park.

A burnt-out Porsche was found shortly afterwards by police nearby in Bondi Junction, while a burnt-out Holden Commodore was found in Zetland.

Two men, aged 31 and 42, were arrested on Wednesday and have both been charged with murder.

Police will allege the older man initiated the shooting of Moradian, while the younger man helped coordinate it.
