Speaker Johnson urged an investigation into whether President Biden was pressured by Democrats to resign over threats over the 25th Amendment

House Speaker Mike Johnson is under pressure to investigate whether Democrats threatened to remove Joe Biden from office under the 25th Amendment if he does not withdraw from the 2024 race.

The 25th Amendment, which provides for succession to the president if the commander in chief is unable to discharge his duties, has never been used before.

But amid ongoing concerns about the president’s capabilities and mental state, Republicans have considered removing Biden from the White House in an unprecedented move.

Earlier this week, Johnson announced he was considering introducing a 25th Amendment resolution to force Harris to unseat Biden.

However, Trump spoke out against the maneuver, saying Harris would be “worse” than Biden, which could be enough to kill the momentum behind the resolution.

Now the conservative group American Accountability Foundation (AAF) is demanding that Johnson investigate whether Democrats forced Biden to drop his presidential candidacy using the 25th Amendment.

Vice President Kamala Harris is accused of blackmailing President Joe Biden into running for re-election. The American Accountability Foundation (AAF) is demanding that Chairman Mike Johnson investigate whether Harris threatened Biden with the 25th Amendment, causing him to cancel his campaign, and endorsed her.

“I am writing today to request that you immediately direct the House Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight and Accountability Committee to investigate credible allegations that Vice President Harris may have extorted President Biden under threat of invoking the 25th Amendment to end his candidacy for president,” AAF President Thomas Jones wrote to Johnson.

“There are multiple reports that Democratic Party leaders, up to and including the Vice President, have used the threat to invoke the provisions of the 25th Amendment to force President Biden to end his campaign.”

Jones alleges in the note that there could be evidence that Harris extorted Biden into abandoning his bid to become the Democratic presidential nominee.

“As the plain language makes clear, the path to removing President Biden under the 25th Amendment clearly runs through the Office of the Vice President and through the Office of the President.”

‘Simply put, if Vice President Harris could credibly secure the support of eight members of the President’s Cabinet (a majority of the 15 executive departments), she could issue the President an ultimatum, forcing him to end his campaign and support her candidacy. Otherwise, he would be removed from office, cementing his legacy as a president mentally unfit to lead the country.’

“Such a demand from the Vice President and his Cabinet supporters would undoubtedly have constituted extortion,” Jones continued.

The AAF letter comes as Republicans are divided over whether to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Biden from office.

But that advance may now be suppressed.

Former President Donald Trump said Thursday he opposes his party’s push for the amendment.

“I don’t think they should use the 25th Amendment,” he said.

“I will say this, the world is in a very dangerous place. I think if (Biden) goes, (Kamala) will take over and she’s worse than he is,” Trump said on Fox & Friends, calling her a “San Francisco radical.”

Despite Trump’s warning, some Republicans continue to insist that the never-before-used amendment should be invoked immediately to impeach Biden.

“I wrote a letter and sent it to Kamala Harris asking her to invoke the 25th Amendment,” Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Wisconsin) told DailyMail.com.

“I have a little book on my desk. It’s called the Constitution. And she’s the Vice President of the United States, and the President of the United States is mentally and physically compromised.”

“So it is her duty to invoke the 25th Amendment, call the cabinet together, write a letter, submit to Joe Biden, and in that one millisecond she becomes the acting president of the United States.”

He said Biden is “acting like” he is president and that he “would rather have an acting president than pretend.”

Van Orden says he still supports Trump, but adds: “I look at this from a national security perspective.”

However, other Republican members sided with Trump.

“I think the (former) president’s position is my position as well,” Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) told DailyMail.com.

“That’s a Kamala Harris question. It’s not for us,” Donalds continued.

Tennessee Republican Tim Burchett agreed with Donald and Trump.

‘It will not work Senate. So I don’t know if that’s necessary.’

“I don’t think the president has the capacity to govern. And he’s been out of power for a while now and it’s been completely covered up by the media.”

“Everyone in Washington is talking about it, Democrats and Republicans.”

So far, several GOP members, including Johnson, have already talked about taking action to push through the amendment maneuver.

Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., said he shares Trump's view that the amendment should not be used to unseat Biden.

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, introduced a resolution shortly after the debate calling on Harris to “convene the Cabinet and declare that President Joe Biden is unable to discharge his duties as Commander in Chief.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters Monday that he is still considering bringing the resolution to the House floor.

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tennessee, has called on Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment and on Tuesday filed articles of impeachment for the vice president’s failure to enforce border laws.

Additionally, Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Missouri) wrote a letter to all of Biden’s Cabinet members urging them to invoke the 25th Amendment.

However, the House of Representatives is not expected to take action on the 25th Amendment anytime soon.

On Thursday morning, the House of Representatives went into recess early in the month of August.

They are not expected to return to work in Washington DC until September 9, 45 days from now.
