Spain have confirmed that Pedri will miss the remainder of Euro 2024 due to a knee injury he sustained just eight minutes into the quarter-final against Germany.

Wonderkid midfielder Pedri was replaced by Dani Olmo after he suffered a heavy collision with Toni Kroos in the opening 10 minutes of the match.

The Real Madrid midfielder fouled right through the Barcelona player. Although he won the ball, the foul was so violent that referee Anthony Taylor awarded him a free kick.

Pedri remained on the ground and needed medical attention before he could get back on his feet. He hoped he could continue.

However, just four minutes after the foul, the Spanish national coach decided to take Pedri off the pitch, after which the youngster left the field in tears. In the second half, the Spanish Football Federation confirmed that the midfielder had suffered a lateral sprain of his left knee.

The 21-year-old midfielder appeared distraught as he limped off the field to be substituted

The midfielder will now undergo tests to determine the severity of his injury.

Pedri struggled with injuries during last season at Barcelona, with a hamstring injury limiting him to just 24 LaLiga appearances.

This time the Spaniard appeared to land hard on his shoulder, but it was his knee which he held with some discomfort as he received treatment on the field.

He looked upset as he came off the field, covering his face with his head in both hands.

Pedri had started three of Spain’s four matches before the clash with Germany, coming on as a substitute only in the win over Albania, as Spain had already qualified for the knockout stages before the final group match.

Spain started the tournament without Barcelona teammate Gavi, who has been out since November with a torn cruciate ligament.
