Sovereign citizen refuses to take breath test after being pulled over by police

Footage has captured the moment when a sovereign citizen refused to take a breath test after being stopped by police, praising the officer for his calmness.

The driver was driving on a road in the Victoria region when he was pulled over by police.

An officer then walks over to his driver’s window before getting into a heated argument with the driver recording the incident.

The driver refuses to give his personal details, claims he doesn’t understand the officer’s authority and calls himself a “living man.”

Shocking footage has captured the moment when a sovereign citizen refused to take a breath test after being stopped by police

The video shows a traffic cop holding a breathalyzer while standing at the driver’s window.

‘What crime is there? What crime was committed?’ asked the driver.

The police officer calmly explains to the man why he was arrested.

“There’s been a traffic violation, okay?” he said.

“And if you’ve committed a traffic violation, you’re required to provide your name and address and your driver’s license in Victoria.”

The driver hits back with a bizarre statement, leaving the police officer unimpressed.

‘What crime is there? … For there to be a crime, there must be a victim,” he said.

The police officer calmly explains to the man that he was arrested for an offense and not a crime.

‘It’s an offense, and it’s an offense in Victoria, and you’re in Victoria. Do you agree with that?’ he said.

The stubborn driver replies that he doesn’t understand the question, causing the police officer to drive on.

‘Oh, don’t you? Well, I’m telling you you’re in Victoria. If you don’t know where you are, I think that’s also a problem,” he said.

“You drive a motor vehicle in Victoria… You can call it whatever you like, but I’m telling you. You are operating a motor vehicle in Victoria.

“So you have to abide by all Victoria’s rules and laws. Do you understand it now?’

The second agent then opens the driver’s door and reaches for the keys in the ignition

A second officer joins the conversation and says that the driver must comply with the road safety law.

The driver strikes back with a bizarre comeback.

“So it’s a law, not a law?” he said.

He labels his car as his private property after being asked by the second officer if he owns the motor vehicle.

“Well, you’re using it on a Victorian highway, so you have Victorian obligations,” the second officer said.

‘Are you going to fulfill those obligations or will you be arrested? You choose.’

Then he opens the driver’s door and reaches for the keys in the ignition.

“You’re under arrest for not giving your name and address,” he said.

The driver insists he did not refuse to take the breath test before handing them his ‘business’ license and prompting officers to hand over his car keys.

He is then told by the first officer to take a preliminary breath test to say he is not complying with the request.

The officer explains that non-compliance is understood as a refusal.

The officers drive off after the altercation before the driver yells at them.

‘The corrupt politicians!’

Footage of the altercation was uploaded to Twitter, where social media users praised the police officer for his calmness.

“The police were much more patient than I would have been,” one wrote.
