Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis asks for jury trial following South Carolina DUI arrest in three-vehicle collision

The 32-year-old reality star’s lawyer made the request: American weekly reported Wednesday, noting that authorities in Goose Creek, South Carolina confirmed that the reality star did not attend the hearing.

Authorities told the newspaper that Dennis’ legal team had requested a jury trial and continuation of proceedings.

Dennis was arrested on May 20 in Goose Creek, South Carolina on drunken driving charges after she was in a collision involving three vehicles.

Dennis, who has struggled with addiction issues in the past, had “shiny eyes” and “radiated the odor of alcohol,” officials said in an incident report obtained by DailyMail.com.

Dennis’ car contained “an unopened bottle of Fireball on the driver’s side floorboard,” while there was a “pink cup in the center console that was empty.”

Dennis refused to submit to a breathalyzer test but did submit to a field sobriety test, during which she showed multiple signs of intoxication, authorities said.

Dennis was overheard on the police camera saying out loud, “I passed that damn sobriety test.” This is bull****. Like, I’m literally not drunk.”

Dennis first appeared on the Bravo series a decade ago, with her ex Thomas Ravenel, 61, before splitting in 2016. The couple has had extensive custody battles over their two children: daughter Kensington, 10, and son St. Julien Rembert, eight.

During the custody battle, Dennis was awarded custody of the two children who were taken from her after a drug test she took came back positive for marijuana.

Dennis was awarded 50-50 custody in 2017 after staying sober for two years.

Dennis tried to have the custody order modified in October 2018 following Ravenel’s arrest in connection with a January 2015 incident involving a nanny who once worked for the former couple.

A judge ordered Ravenel in August 2019 to retain primary custody of the children and split his time with Dennis.

Upon her arrest, Dennis refused to submit to a breathalyzer test but did submit to a field sobriety test, during which she showed multiple signs of intoxication, authorities said.

Dennis temporarily lost custody of the two children in March 2021 and was given supervised care on weekends at that time.

Dennis said in August 2019 that she “didn’t smoke weed or do anything illegal” when she appeared at the season six reunion for the Bravo series.

She said she drinks socially, adding: “It’s not like I’m drinking while I’m going out in any way.”

In March 2020, she said via Instagram that she “hadn’t been high in four years.”

Dennis left Southern Charm early last year after eight seasons on the Bravo reality show.
