- The Cherries have also rejected bids from Leeds to sign defender Chris Mepham
- I sympathize with Erik ten Hag. He gets no control. We all know how this ends… It all starts
Bournemouth winger David Brooks has been loaned out to Southampton today pending his medical treatment.
He succeeds his Bournemouth teammate Joe Rothwell, who also moved to Southampton on loan earlier this month.
Saints will hope the pair can help them continue to push for an automatic promotion spot this season, with Russell Martin’s side just one point behind Ipswich in second place and eight points ahead of leaders Leicester.
Brooks was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in October 2021, but after 18 months of treatment he was cleared in May 2022 and returned to play for Bournemouth in their 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa in 2023.
The 26-year-old, who made 28 appearances for the Welsh national team, made 18 appearances for his club, scoring three goals and three assists in all competitions.

And following his move, Unai Emery has stated that ‘the club will have to find a replacement’
The Cherries appear to be recalling Romain Faivre from his loan spell at French side Lorient
Despite this, he has only started two Premier League games under Andoni Iraola and will be keen to get more playing time at Southampton.
“I just want to play first-team football,” he told the club BBC after scoring in Bournemouth’s 5-0 win over Swansea on Thursday. ‘I’ve had a lot of time on the sidelines and I don’t want to continue there any longer.
‘I would like to continue playing football here, but it is up to everyone what they think is the best situation. I prefer to play here, but if he (Iraola) thinks there is no guaranteed football for me here, I will try to explore opportunities elsewhere.”
The Cherries are also set to recall Romain Faivre from a loan spell at Lorient.
It comes after the Spanish manager hinted they are looking to bring in a replacement for Brook’s in January.
After the win against Swansea, Iraola said: ‘The club has to find a replacement (for Brooks), the financial figures have to work for everyone. We’ll see what happens. The market is still open for another week.’
Brooks, meanwhile, admitted he hoped to get more playing time at Southampton
Bournemouth have also rejected offers from Leeds and Sheffield United for Chris Mepham (left).
Faivre has had an excellent season with the Ligue 1 club, scoring five times in 16 appearances for the French side.
Bournemouth have also rejected approaches from Leeds and Sheffield United for Chris Mepham.
The centre-back’s contract expires in 2025, having signed a three-year contract to remain at the club until 2022.
After making 28 appearances for Bournemouth in all competitions last season, the 26-year-old has struggled to break into the Iraola side this season, making just nine appearances so far this season.
