A South Dakota woman pleaded guilty to falsifying a Florida rape report to try to get a free STD test after cheating on her husband, after being discovered after police discovered she bought the rope she said was it had been used at Walmart itself
Renee Dawn Skoglund, 30, will spend two years under house arrest, eight years probation and face a fine of more than $17,000.
On March 8, Skoglund reported a sexual assault against her in Hillsborough County, Florida.
According to the released 911 audio, she pulled up on the side of the road she was traveling on and claimed she had car trouble.
Skoglund then told police that a man tied her arms and legs, put a towel on her head, pushed her into the car and raped her.

Skoglund was caught on surveillance footage buying the rope she used to fake a sexual assault
Her downfall came when she got specific about the type of rope used, one that police knew was sold at a local Walmart.
Police requested surveillance videos, which led them to discover footage of Skoglund buying the rope himself.
“Following this discovery, detectives found video footage of multiple places Ms. Skoglund visited in the time surrounding the attack, refuting her initial statements,” the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
“She tried to change her statements before finally admitting to making the whole incident up.”
Eventually, Skoglund tried to fabricate her attack in an attempt to test herself for an STD after an extramarital affair.
“She had consensual sexual intercourse with a person in Hillsborough County,” prosecutor Jessica Couvertier said in court. FOS 13 reported.
“Then she felt guilty about it because of her marital status and wanted to get tested for a sexually transmitted disease.”
Skoglund was charged on March 10 with misusing a 911 system, falsely reporting a crime and fabricating physical evidence.

She now owes a total of $17,245.26 to the local sheriff’s office for the money they spent investigating her claim.
“This case is truly disheartening,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a press release after Skoglund was charged.
“There are far too many victims who are confronted with this kind of trauma. This woman abused our hotline and diverted attention from the actual victims who need the viable resources available in these investigative scenarios.”
