A father who died after being crushed by a dump truck while at work is said to be months away from welcoming his second child.

Luke Gowling, 30, died about 7.15am on Saturday from injuries sustained during the workplace incident in Brinkley, south-east of Adelaide.

Emergency services were called to the ‘Mulch n More’ workshop and rushed Mr Gowling to the War Memorial Hospital, where he died.

South Australia Police and SafeWork SA are both investigating the death.

Shortly after the incident, Mulch and More released a statement confirming they would suspend matters ‘out of respect’ for Mr Gowling.

“Mulch N More is deeply saddened and shocked by the sudden death of a 30-year-old driver this morning in a tragic accident at our Brinkley depot,” a company statement said.

‘This is a deeply distressing time for everyone involved and as a small family business we mourn alongside its loved ones.’

The company said they “consider every member of our team part of our family.”

The police prepare a report for the coroner.
