Welcome back to the Soul of Sport. For the latest episode of the series, ANDY HOOPER traveled to the Dripping Pan to watch Reading Women’s dramatic draw with Lewes Women.
With both sides facing off and locked in the relegation battle for the Women’s Championship, the stakes were high – and the match certainly did not disappoint.
Reading found themselves two goals behind at Sussex within the first thirty minutes, but responded brilliantly after half-time to rescue a final point.
Bethan Roberts had taken advantage of the visitors’ pressure to halve the deficit with seven minutes of normal time remaining, before Charlie Wellings wrested a share of the spoils in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Supporters of all ages flocked to the Dripping Pan to watch Lewes Women’s crucial clash against Reading Women
Many young fans sat on the ground and enjoyed their gaming consoles as the game unfolded on the field
Those in the stadium were treated to some spectacular views of the pitch, including between two beach huts on one side
The stadium, located in Sussex, played host to a sensational relegation six-pointer as the sun fell in the sky
Supporters caused a stir in the stands as color was injected into the action via multiple black and red scarves
One dog was dressed in a Reading home shirt and stood on his hind legs, much to the amusement of several spectators
There was a great atmosphere between both groups of players before four goals were shared in a truly memorable 90 minutes
Reading’s players wore dark gray jerseys for the match before walking down the stairs and onto the pitch
One of the boxes on the ground provided an elevated view of the events, much to the delight of several excited young people
The beach huts spread around the edge of the field offered hospitality to supporters, including tea and coffee
The usual raffle, run by Lewes FC Supporters’ Club, was held offering a top prize of £25 to one lucky winner
