Sophie Monk exposes Hollywood’s couch potato culture and reveals the shocking reason she quit acting

Sophie Monk left Hollywood when she was on the verge of breaking into a career on the big screen.

And former band member Bardot says tinseltown’s couch culture is partly to blame.

“You’d be having meetings and you’d be like, ‘Is this a meeting or a reading?'” she tells this week’s issue Stellar Magazine.

“And then you’d have someone who’s in love with you, and they won’t put you in the movie because they want to keep you where you are so they can have fun with you.”

“Even my dentist wanted a reality show,” the 43-year-old continued.

“It’s a bit of a funny place and people warned me about it before I left. I was like, “I’ll be fine.” But before I knew it, I was like, “That’s not what I’m about.”

“That’s why I thought, I want to come back to Australia.” I was on the verge of getting some good things, but I didn’t want that anymore,’ Sophie concluded.

After giving up Hollywood and returning to Australia in 2015, Sophie has had a successful career as a TV presenter, presenting Beauty and the Geek and Love Island for Channel Nine.

Before returning home, Sophie notched up some impressive credits, starring in 2006’s Date Movie alongside Alyson Hannigan and Jennifer Coolidge.
