Inside Sophie Cachia’s tangled love life after she left her AFL star husband for a Matildas player before getting engaged to a pro basketball player – as mystery surrounds her pregnancy
Sophie Cachia shocked her followers this week when she confirmed that she is expecting her third child.
The announcement raised questions about her current relationship status, now that she has recently become single, and whether she is going through the pregnancy as a single mother.
The 33-year-old mummy blogger has had a colourful dating history after splitting from her AFL star husband Jaryd Cachia in 2019 and embarking on several romances with women.
Sophie was married to Jaryd, 33, for four years after they tied the knot in October 2015.
The couple welcomed their first son Bobby the year before, but after Sophie gave birth to daughter Florence in 2017, she began to question her life and identity.
Sophie and Jaryd only split in September 2019, but in the final year of their relationship, the influencer, who now identifies as bisexual, explored her sexuality.
With her husband’s support, Sophie went through a “wonderful” period of self-discovery in the last months of their marriage and began having sex with women.
In her 2022 memoir, Then There Was Her, she describes something coming to mind when she met an AFLW player just five weeks after giving birth for the second time.

The couple met at work, when Sophie was scheduled to speak on an AFL panel, and they soon began a sexual relationship, with Sophie’s husband’s permission.
Jaryd did his best to support his wife in exploring her sexuality, but she confessed in her memoir that he struggled with his self-esteem during this time.
The couple officially split in 2019 and Sophie moved on with her new partner Alanna Kennedy, a professional footballer for the Matildas, the following year.
In a candid interview with Mamamia on the No Filter podcast, Sophie explains why her marriage ended before she started a relationship with another woman.
“I had a wonderful man in my life, and I still do. He’s an incredible father and an incredible friend to me, but why can’t women search for more?” she said.
‘That married life, that’s what I realized. That wasn’t what I wanted. And it wasn’t that I realized, “Oh, I like women now, I’m going to leave my marriage,” that wasn’t it. I realized I wanted more.’

Sophie said she met 29-year-old Alanna through work, but their relationship only really began to blossom when they started chatting on the phone and on social media.
“She was abroad for the first five to six months. We didn’t jump into a relationship right away, but we clicked right away,” Sophie explains.
‘In a way, [Alanna] changed my life in the sense that… she made me realize that I can actually see myself in a long-term relationship with a woman.’
However, things weren’t meant to be between Sophie and Alanna, as the two split in early 2020, just days after finally going public with their secret romance.
Sophie shared a post on Instagram at the time saying she was “defeated, humiliated and broken” in her “private life.”
While she didn’t specifically talk about Alanna or go into detail about what happened, she did confess that she was dealing with “betrayal and heartbreak.”

The following year, Sophie rekindled her romance with WNBL star Maddie Garrick, and in March 2022, Sophie proposed to her sports partner.
Unfortunately, the engagement didn’t last longer than a year, as just eight months after the proposal, Sophie brutally dumped the basketball player.
The businesswoman and former Australian Survivor star made the shocking announcement on Instagram, hinting at a breach of trust and betrayal.
Their split came just a month after the couple began a long-distance relationship, when Maddie, 32, moved to Florence, Italy, to work for a local women’s basketball team.
“It is with great sadness and pain that I have unfortunately made the decision to end my relationship,” Sophie wrote on Instagram Stories at the time.
‘When I asked her to marry me, I did so with the guarantee that I would be loyal, trusting, honest and respectful.
‘Despite the great amount of love I still feel, I have decided to set a good example and show what I deserve in life, for myself and for my children.’

She added: ‘While I’m in pain, life has to go on. I still have to show up to work with my businesses and, more importantly, be a mother and role model to my two children.’
Just two months after their split, Sophie began dating AFLW star Sophie Van De Heuvel, although they didn’t go public with their relationship until April 2023.
Sophie and Heuvel’s relationship lasted a year, but in January of this year the couple decided to unfollow each other on Instagram.
They decided to spend Christmas and New Year apart, with Sophie posting snaps of her celebrations with her ‘chosen family’, with Heuvel, 23, noticeably absent.
The couple kept their romance relatively private throughout their relationship, with neither appearing in photos on each other’s feeds.

Since her split from Heuvel, Sophie has not been linked to anyone, although there were rumors earlier this year that she was dating another basketball player.
Now the WAG influencer has confirmed that she is expecting her third child.
She announced the news on Wednesday with adorable photos of herself lying in bed with her two children.
Sophie wrote “Mine” in the caption, along with a love heart emoji and three children emojis, hinting that she may be going through this pregnancy as a single mother.
