Sophie Cachia reveals she’s in a long-distance relationship after Maddie Garrick moves to Italy

Influencer Sophie Cachia is officially engaged after her WNBL star fiancé Maddie Garrick moved to Italy for work.

Maddie, 30, moved to Florence last month after signing with local basketball club Polisportiva A.Galli Basket, leaving Sophie back in Melbourne with her two children, daughter Florence, five, and son Bobby, eight.

Prior to Maddie’s departure, Sophie, 32, shared a heartfelt Instagram post insisting their new long-distance relationship was a blow of fate.

“When I named my daughter Florence, it was because it’s my favorite city in the world. With our strong beliefs about how the universe works in this magical world, you are now confirming that you are moving to Florence, the fact that you have always been a part of my story,” she wrote.

“My children find comfort and confidence in you that makes me sure I’ve done something right in life – and that’s you. Too bad of course. But I’m so excited that you have fulfilled a lifelong dream of yours,” the nightwear entrepreneur added.

Sophie ended her message with a bittersweet message about how much Maddie will be missed by her family.

Sophie announced her engagement news via Instagram in March and uploaded this photo of herself and Maddie posing together for a beloved selfie

Sophie proposed to Maddie in March by offering her a huge ring with three diamonds.

The Australian Survivor star was previously married to AFL star Jaryd Cachia, which ended before she started dating women.

“I had a beautiful man in my life, and I still do. He’s an incredible father and an incredible friend to me, but why can’t women search more?’ she said during a candid interview with the No Filter podcast in July 2020.

“That married life that I realized wasn’t what I wanted. And it wasn’t that I realized, ‘Oh, I love women now, I’m going to leave my marriage’, it wasn’t. I realized I wanted more.’
