Astro botthe second full-fledged title to feature the de facto PlayStation mascot, will launch on September 6th and to celebrate the occasion, PlayStation launches a limited-edition DualSense controller modeled after the blue-eyed bot. Pre-orders for the $79.99 controller open on August 8, and can be reserved from PlayStation and other select retailers ahead of its September 6 launch.
The modified controller features blue accents on the grips and buttons, as well as some additional notched sci-fi accents on the grips and around the analog sticks. The most noticeable change, however, is the addition of a pair of blue eyes in the center of the touchpad. While the eyes unfortunately cannot change their expression based on your gameplay, their presence still lends an oddly emotive quality to an otherwise lifeless peripheral.
In addition to the new theme, the limited edition controller includes the same features as the standard DualSense controller, such as motion controls, haptic feedback that can mimic textures in certain environments, and adaptive triggers to simulate tension and resistance.
The new controller isn’t available for pre-order yet, but we’ll update this page if that changes.
