  • The last of us season 2 will be released in April
  • Horizon zero dawn And Hell divers 2 get film adaptations
  • Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be an anime

CES is normally a hub for new technology, but Sony took the opportunity to make CES 2025 the place for some big entertainment announcements that are sure to excite PlayStation gamers.

That’s the most direct The last of us season 2 will be released in April on HBO and Max. No precise release date has been given yet, but we’re nevertheless happy that we only have four more months to wait until we can catch up on the next phase of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie’s (Bella Ramsey) adventure in the fungal apocalypse.

We also received an update on the Until sunrise movie – which is based on Sony’s choose-your-own horror adventure game of the same name. Peter Stormare – who plays Dr. Alan J. Hill reprises – appeared on stage via a pre-recorded clip to confirm that the film (set to be released on April 25 this year) will focus on a new plot and cast – or “victims”, as he described them. There was some uncertainty as to whether the film would be a direct remake of the games, but that now appears not to be the case.

Then we got three new announcements, starting with Sony’s confirmation that we’re getting a movie Horizon zero dawn (one of my favorite games of recent years). This new show shows us Aloy’s story of survival in a post-apocalyptic world (Sony loves dystopias, huh) as she tries to understand what caused the world’s high-tech society to collapse and be reborn as hunters armed with bows and spears that fought high-tech animal robots.

Very much The last of uswe expect this to be a fairly faithful retelling of the Horizon zero dawn story based on what Sony has said so far – with a few changes made to suit the new medium – although details are light.

Next is a Hell divers 2 film. Hell divers 2 took the world by storm in 2024 and was the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game of all time, with millions of players spreading “Managed Democracy” in any way they could. The tongue-in-cheek political satire underlying the shooter’s gameplay is deeply inspired Spaceship Troopers and we expect fans of that movie and the game will enjoy it Helldivers movie when it comes out.

Sony finally revealed that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends – the multiplayer spin-off based on the base game – is getting an anime adaptation that will air exclusively on Sony-owned Crunchyroll.

Beyond announcing that they are in development, Sony has provided few details about this trio of projects, but we expect plot and release information to be revealed in due course.
