Sonia Kruger reveals private fallout after her infamous 2023 Logies speech and shock dig at Hamish Blake: ‘I ended up talking to a therapist about it’
Sonia Kruger has revealed the personal fallout from her controversial 2023 Gold Logie speech, in which she made a number of awkward jokes about Hamish Blake.
The Big Brother presenter was announced as the winner of the Gold Logie and during her acceptance speech she took a swipe at Hamish by claiming that ‘people are a bit over him.’
Sonia revealed at Mercedes-Benz Sydney’s annual Women in Business lunch on Wednesday that she was “having trouble sleeping and even went to therapy” to deal with the fallout.
“I had trouble sleeping,” she told the audience.
“I ended up talking to a therapist about it because I didn’t…I didn’t feel like it at all.”

She said the therapist told her to “treat yourself with a little kindness.”
Delivering her impromptu acceptance speech at the event, Sonia said she believes the reason expected winner Hamish didn’t take home the gold again is because he had already won it twice.
Sonia, who shares the same agent with the Lego Masters presenter, said their agent told her: ‘I think people are a bit over Hamish.’
She claimed he added: “Honestly, I hope so [Hamish] I’ll leave the station so I can concentrate all my efforts on you, Sonia.’

The cameras then cut to a confused-looking Hamish, who was sitting in the audience next to his wife Zoë Foster Blake.
‘I was making a joke about our agent, Hamish [Blake] and I, and I think people took it seriously,” Kruger later told the radio hosts.
‘It was an absolute joke and the officer thought it was funny, I hope Hamish did too. I have to send him an apology email today.”
“I didn’t expect this, I think you could probably tell from my terrible acceptance speech,” she later said The Daily Telegraph.

‘I’m blown away. It was very loose. There were people in that room who I really consider comedic geniuses and to be in the same group as them is a huge compliment.”
The experienced TV presenter faced stiff competition with Julia Morris, Hamish Blake, Leigh Sales, Mark Coles Smith, Osher Günsberg and Shaun Micallef all in the running.
Upon receiving the award, the host of Big Brother, Dancing with the Stars and The Voice Australia was clearly overwhelmed.
