A son who allegedly killed his mother and four sisters in a suspected honor killing on New Year’s Eve shared a video of the shocking scene and described how he killed them, Indian media report.
The 24-year-old man, locally identified as Arshad, was arrested after the bodies were found soaked in blood at a hotel in Lucknow where the family was staying to celebrate the New Year.
In a distorted video that circulated on social media after the alleged murders, Arshad claimed that he killed his family to “protect” them from his family’s neighbors, who he claimed were planning to sell his sisters in Hyderabad .
He also displayed the bodies, local media reported, with claims that he strangled his mother with a scarf and stuffed a cloth in her mouth, before doing the same to his younger sisters and slitting their wrists.
Local media also reported that Arshad gave his family food and water before fatally attacking them.
His father Badar, who is still on the run, is also suspected of being involved in the gruesome murders.
The victims are Alia, nine, Alshia, 19, Aksa, 16, Rahmeen 18, and their mother Asma. Photos are circulating showing the family before the tragedy Indian media.

The police are investigating the gruesome murder
Arshad reportedly said in the video after the brutal murders, “Our neighbors tried to take over our property and planned to sell my sisters in Hyderabad. “I couldn’t let that happen,” he said.
Arshad also alleged that the relentless pressure and intimidation from his community in Agra pushed him to commit this heinous act. He also claimed that his father, Badar, helped him in the murders, the report said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Raveena Tyagi said, “Today, the bodies of five people were found in a room of Hotel Sharan Jeet.
“Local police reached the spot and a person named Arshad, aged about 24, a resident of Agra, was arrested.”
‘During the preliminary interrogation itself, he said that he had killed his four sisters and mother because of a family dispute. Further questioning continues.”

Joint Commissioner of Police Babloo Kumar said, “(The) bodies of five people have been found – four girls and their mother.
“The hotel staff said they came here on December 30, and their brother and father were there too. The matter is under further investigation.”
“Survey of nearby hotel staff is also being conducted and any findings will be shared with the media as soon as they come to light,” PTI quoted Babloo Kumar as saying.
“As for the bodies recovered, some show signs of injuries – on the wrist of one, on the neck of another. Based on these marks, statements of witnesses and the autopsy report, we are conducting a detailed investigation into the case,” he added.
