Son left with mold poisoning after blue cheese spilled in family’s car

A TikTok creator has been diagnosed with mold poisoning after spilling blue cheese in his parents’ car, causing the mold to spread throughout the car overnight.

Liam Metin (@liam.metin) posted a video explaining how the interior of his parents’ car became covered in mold after he unknowingly spilled bits of blue cheese into his parents’ Kia.

“I can’t make this up, guys. We spilled blue cheese in the car and now the car is covered in blue cheese… mold.”

Metin writes in the text accompanying the video that he only realized the next day that they had spilled the blue cheese, when it was already too late.

Liam pans the camera to reveal the passenger seat, which has been transformed into a terrifying canvas of white mold spores.

Clearly this isn’t a local problem, as he shows how the fungal ecosystem has spread across both the front and back seats of his car.

“Everyone says the car is a total loss,” Metin said.

In a follow-up video, Metin revealed that he has mold poisoning.

“It’s in my lungs and in my sinuses. I had to go to a doctor because I was having certain symptoms,” he said.

“Turns out my car isn’t the only thing contaminated with blue cheese.”

Metin had thoroughly cleaned his car using vinegar, baking soda, three different wet and dry vacuums, a pressure washer and Marvel mold cleaner.

Although he said he managed to remove most of the visible mold, has continued to grow. He also said the inside of the car still has a “funky” smell that won’t go away.

He removed the floor mats from the car and let them dry on a metal table in his backyard.

Metin’s videos have been viewed more than 17 million times.
