Police are stepping up their search for a group of men accused of dragging a 17-year-old boy into a car on Australia Day after asking him if he wanted to “take a ride” with them.

South Australia Police released a composite image of one of the suspects on Monday following the terrifying alleged kidnapping of the boy in Somerton Park, a seaside suburb of Adelaide.

The boy was walking along the Esplanade in Somerton Park around 10pm on Thursday when a white car with four men inside pulled up next to him.

Police allege that two of the men in the car jumped out and grabbed the teen, forced him into the back seat, and drove off.

The teenager told police the men had asked him ‘Do you want to come for a ride?’ before putting it in the car.

Police have released an image of a suspect in connection with the alleged abduction of a 17-year-old boy in Somerton Park, Adelaide, last Thursday.

A white sedan carrying four men is alleged to have approached the boy on the Somerton Park esplanade (pictured) before forcing him into the car.

The boy refused, but was still allegedly forced into the car.

The car then drove for about two minutes before getting stuck in traffic at the roundabout at the corner of Partridge Street and Pier Street in Glenelg.

He managed to escape from the car when it slowed down and ran home to call the police.

Detective Chief Inspector Kieran Baggoley told reporters last week that the young man was not threatened or robbed and was unharmed.

The suspects South Australia Police are looking for are between the ages of 30 and 40.

The first suspect is Caucasian in appearance, about 190 cm tall and of solid build.

The teen told police he had a dark beard and was wearing a dark gray hoodie.

A second man in his early 30s was described as having a muscular build, standing around 180cm tall and wearing an orange T-shirt and white beanie.

Detectives urged anyone with information to contact police.
