Some of the Samsung Galaxy S24’s key AI features just leaked
As the expected launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S24 draws ever closer – believed to be January 17, 2024 – we continue to see leaks and rumors about the features we can look forward to on these flagship smartphones.
Tipster @MysteryLupin (through 9to5Google) has posted an apparent overview of the AI features coming to the Galaxy S24 series. For example, there is live translation between languages built into the Phone app that Samsung puts on its handset.
Then there's the 'nightography' zoom, which appears to be a special type of image processing for low-light shots, allowing more details to be captured clearly – even if you have to zoom in on your subject from a distance.
There's also a generative editing feature mentioned, which seems to tie in with some of the Magic Editor tricks you'll find in Google Photos on certain Pixel phones: think deleting objects or filling in blank spaces with a tap.
Everything about the AI
From the headings used in the promotional material, it appears that some or all of these AI features are exclusive to the more expensive Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – although we'll have to wait and see to know for sure.
We know Google has packed a lot of AI magic into its most recent Pixel phones, with more features expected to follow next year with the Google Pixel 9, and it seems Samsung is keen not to be left behind when it comes to its own functions. handsets.
Rumors of AI being a key part of the Samsung Galaxy S24's appeal have been appearing for months, and previous leaks have pointed to features such as an audio recorder that can automatically transcribe speech from up to ten different voices.
This latest leak gives us a bit more of an idea of how capable these phones will be, and we'll get the official breakdown from Samsung by the middle of next month. The upgrades may also go well beyond AI features.
